European network for the Treatment of Arrhythmias in Cardiology

What is the
RETAC Group ?

The concept of RETAC Group (European network for the Treatment of Arrhythmias in Cardiology) was born in the early 1990s, in order to improve the management of cardiac arrhythmias, partcularly in the field of radiofrequency catheter ablation. The main objective was to share mutual experience and to debate about complex or original cases in the field of arrhythmology.

The first meeting took place in Limoges (France) in 1995. This unusual meeting with live cases and discussions on original case reports convinced their members to continue the experience : the RETAC Group was born.

About us

With a concern of sharing education and therapeutic improvement, the RETAC Group has regularly organised meetings throughout its network. It immediately became a reputable tool to constantly improve knowledge in a such rapidly evolving field as arrhythmology. The strength of these meetings lies on exchanging different ways of working and different ways of solving problems in our daily practice.

Barcelona, Geneva, Limoges, Bad Krozingen and Grenoble were the five beginners of this fascinating venture starting with the end of the last century. Brussels, Paris, Toulouse, Brescia joined the group few years later. Our concern was to stay “little” enough to keep alive and reactive in the field of medical training and permanent education.

Helping You Get Better Since 1990

In 1997, the RETAC was granted for Continuing Medical Education (CME) from the “Leonardo da Vinci Program” of the European Community.

Since 1995...

Since 1995, the RETAC Group is performing annually “internal meetings”, dedicated to the training of the fellows of the network, but also to maintain the level of all the institutions. The topics include obviously EP and more particularly cardiac ablation (RF or Cryo), but also implanting devices, CRT, lead extractions etc…

These meetings are organized through forums were difficult clinical cases or complications are reported, live interventional procedures are displayed, but discussions on innovating techniques or recent advances can also take place always when they are conducted in an independent, open-minded and ethical way.

Since 2002..

The RETAC Group is also giving annually workshops, lectures or live sessions in most of the European meetings concerning the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias: ISCAT, EuroPCR, Cardiostim, Europace etc… These sessions are performed with the same spirit that was born in the “internal meetings”

A book collecting many ablation cases and many articles in the most popular journals of the specialty have been published by the members of the RETAC Group.

Looking back, RETAC Group has brought us teaching, skills, training, continuous education, but also compassion and maybe the most important… friendship.

Looking forward, the Group is committed more than ever to continue the promotion and the teaching of a high quality for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias… and share this venture with those who wish…
